Ripcord Games has shipped its 3D sci-fi multiplayer strategy game Enemy Infestation, the company announced.
Players take command of a human colony (made up of troopers, biochemists, medics, mechanics, and service robots and crew) beset by hordes of evolving aliens.
The game is playable over SegaSoft's Heat.net and Mpath Interactive's Mplayer.com online gaming networks.
Clockworks Entertainment, a division of Australia's Micro Forte, developed the game for Ripcord. Micro Forte has also developed Demon Stalkers for EA and America's Cup Sailing Simulation for EA and US Gold.
"We wanted to take the best elements of this style of game and expand upon them," said John DeMargherti, CEO of Micro Forte. "The diversity of the jobs that are given to the members of the colonist party create an environment of interdependency, where cooperative play sort of happens on its own. This, along with the intuitive nature of the game's AI, allows for the complex strategy of a turn-based game amid the fast-paced action of a real-time conflict."
