Doom on PC Will Unlock Framerate and Support Advanced Settings, See Them Here-December 2024
Dec 12, 2025 11:35 PM

PC players weren't too happy with Doom last week, as the open beta's frame rate was capped, and it didn't support certain PC features that some players expect. Developer Id Software has responded to the concerns on publisher Bethesda's website.

Id Software CTO Robert Duffy addressed the feedback and confirmed that the framerate on PC will not be capped at launch. He talked about how PC gaming "is in [Id's] DNA," and how the company plans to support the PC version with advanced settings.

"Just like so many of you, we also love to tinker with settings to get the exact experience we want--and every ounce of performance our systems can handle," he said. "We will be running an uncapped framerate on PC at launch, supporting ultra-wide 21:9 monitors, allowing wider FOV, and providing a wide variety of advanced settings that allows any PC connoisseur the opportunity to make intelligent tradeoffs between visual fidelity and performance."

Duffy also mentioned that Id will provide an in-depth look at its latest engine, idTech 6, in a future post. The developer will also showcase its rendering pipeline, customization tech, and other ways it's planning to "broaden [its] minimum PC spec even further than [its] current expectations."

Doom is set to launch on May 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can take a look at the full list of expected advanced settings for PC at the bottom of the article.
