Ronald Fortier, former director of technology and producer at Virgin Interactive/Westwood Studios/Electronic Arts, has come on board at Digital Domain Interactive, where he will be serving as executive producer of technology. He will oversee all of the company's technical research and development duties including mergers and acquisitions as well as the technological aspects of the company's projects.
Digital Domain Interactive president Debra Streicker-Fine made the announcement today; she and Fortier had worked together from 1992 through 1994 at Disney Interactive - Streicker-Fine was head of marketing and Fortier was technical director of product development at Disney Interactive during that time.
Fortier will be working on Digital Domain's LEGO project building two titles that will allow users to create LEGO apparatuses in real-time 3D environments. Both titles have a tentative 2000 release date.
Before coming to Digital Domain, Fortier was cofounder, president, and chief executive officer of Mission Control Entertainment, which worked on two titles for DreamWorks.
Digital Domain Interactive is a division of Digital Domain, the company founded in 1993 by Titanic director James Cameron, special effects and creature creator Stan Winston, among others.
