DC's Supergirl and The Flash Will Hit Netflix Much Sooner Than Usual--Report-May 2024
May 2, 2025 6:15 PM

Popular shows made for the CW such as Supergirl and The Flash could soon be hitting Netflix within weeks of their seasons ending. It has been reported that a new deal is about to be signed between the network and the streaming giant.

According to Variety, the deal could mean CW shows are made available on Netflix as quickly as two weeks after their season finales. Currently the CW has a deal with Hulu that means selected episodes are available to stream there initially, with Netflix subscribers having to wait months to watch this content. However this deal, signed in 2011, is about to end.

Netflix have been seeking to renegotiate its deal with the CW for several months. In January, chief content officer Ted Sarandos told Variety: "We'd like to make that deal work. It’s great programming, we have a great relationship with Warner Bros. and CBS on [the current] deal, and we’d like to continue it.”

Although neither Netflix or CW parent companies CBS and Warner have commented on the report, Variety states that they are to formally announce the deal later this week.

Current CW shows include the DC properties The Flash and Arrow, with Supergirl moving there from CBS for its next season. Other popular shows include The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Jane the Virgin.

Disclosure: CBS is GameSpot's parent company.
