Westwood Studios announced today that worldwide sales of Command & Conquer games have passed the five million unit mark. The product line, distributed by Virgin Interactive and initiated in 1995, includes C&C for MS-DOS, Windows 95, Macintosh, the PlayStation, and the Saturn - along with The Covert Operations, an official add-on disk. Also included in the number are sales of prequel Command & Conquer: Red Alert and Counterstrike, its official add-on missions disc.
Westwood said that it will continue to create new installments to its strategy line - in fact, only one-third of the C & C universe and storyline has been revealed to date. The company will also be branching out into new genres.
