HBO's The Last of Us is one of the network's most popular shows ever, but it has yet to be confirmed for a second season. Star Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie in the video game adaptation, said in an interview that she thinks a second season is "pretty likely" under certain circumstances.
Speaking to the BBC, Ramsey said, "If people keep watching, I think [a second season] is pretty likely. It's down to the guys at HBO."

Now Playing: The Last of Us Episode 2 Breakdown, Anna Torv Interview, Social Reactions
She made it clear, though, "There's nothing confirmed yet, so we'll have to wait and see."
It's been reported that The Last of Us Season 1 will tell the events of the video game, with a potential Season 2 digging into the story of the sequel. Related to this, fans believe they have discovered who will play Abby in the rumored second season.
Season 2 has yet to be confirmed by HBO, but given the massive viewership numbers for Season 1, in addition to the high praise from critics and fans alike, it seems to be a likely bet. The creators, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, have said they don't want The Last of Us to overstay its welcome. And unlike Game of Thrones, Druckmann and Mazin don't plan to take The Last of Us series beyond the events of the source material. As always, though, plans can change.
Also in the BBC interview, Ramsey said she was a "naive, ignorant, non-gamer" before she signed on for The Last of Us. Now she said she understands that video games are "so much richer" than she ever imagined.
New episodes of HBO's The Last of Us air Sunday nights at 9 PM ET, running up to the Season 1 finale on March 12. There is also an official podcast hosted by Troy Baker in which Mazin and Druckmann break down each episode scene-by-scene.
