Prometheus spoilers follow below.
Despite prior indications otherwise, it appears that Noomi Rapace--who played Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus--will be back for the movie's sequel, Alien: Covenant.
It was a curious development when, after dropping the Prometheus name for Alien, word spread that Rapace would not be back. After all, she was one of the few characters to make it out of Prometheus alive, so it would stand to reason that she would have some kind of presence in Covenant.
According to Deadline, Rapace is currently in Australia and will shoot "weeks" of scenes for the new movie. She joins at least one other actor--Michael Fassbender--in returning to the Ridley Scott-led sequel.
Details regarding the film are still scant; beyond the name and an official cast--Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, and Fassbender--there has been very little shared by Fox. We recently got a look at Fassbender and Scott on-set, and have previously seen a spaceship insignia and an explosion.
After previously being scheduled for an October 2017 release, Covenant is now slated to be out on August 4, 2017.
