LightBreak is a story-focused musical game, as in you infer the story from its music. While out on an adventure, Ava comes across the Saaz: a magical artifact that plays through the soul of the person who carries it. The Saaz can connect with the emotions of its player, and visualizes their memories when they play it.

In the game's story, Ava meets with a powerful Mage during one of her adventures. The mage takes Ava's voice when he casts a powerful spell. Devastated, She goes back home to Mother, to tell her what happened through the music of the Saaz and to seek an answer. She wants her voice back.

Every level of the game is a vignette, showcasing an aspect of her adventure. All the vignettes are connected in a grand narrative and they paint a bigger picture as you complete each vignette.

The game play is a novel narrative-driven fusion of audio and puzzle elements. Each face of the magical instrument represents a "track" in the overall mix. Sometimes, your instrument is out of tune, and you need to tune it to play the music in harmony. Eventually, players will enter a creative flow state as they essentially play music by fixing up each track of the music. When they find the correct tune, the environment changes drastically as the instrument will render the music and show the visual representation of Ava's memories connected to that song.
