  Description

A side scrolling platformer released by Nintendo in 1988 as part of it's GAME & Watch™ series of dedicated handheld LCD electronic games.

  Gameplay

In Balloon Fight you are an officer of the Sky Patrol. Your mission is to find and capture the powerful sky pirate, OIRAM REPUS (can you figure out how Nintendo came up with the name?). To find this pirate boss you must search the skies for pieces of a map to his hiding place that are attached to floating balloons. Collect the balloons while avoiding the dangerous sparks drifting about and you will get a chance to battle the pirate boss himself.

Each phase of the game consists of a side scrolling screen where you must collect 25 balloons (while avoiding any floating sparks) to proceed to the next phase. You can control the flight of Balloon Man in the sky by ejecting gas from his jet pack.

At the end of each phase you'll have the choice to warp to a bonus phase where you can earn extra points in a non-scrolling timed challenge.

A boss phase appears every 8 phases, where if you can avoid getting hit by sparks thrown by OIRAM REPUS in a timed challenge, you will be able to capture him for extra bonus points.

A miss occurs when Balloon Man flies in to a spark or falls out of the sky in to the ocean below. If any misses are made 100 points are deducted from your score to revive a Balloon Man and continue the game. The game ends when a miss occurs and you have less than the 100 points required to revive a Balloon Man.
